Born and raised in Indianapolis to Dave and Celest Rose, Kevin D. Rose completed his undergraduate degree at Greenville College, Greenville IL, with a BA in Religion and Philosophy. While completing his graduate degrees, an MA in Christian Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY, and an MS in Elementary Education from Indiana University, Indianapolis, Kevin also served as Director of Youth and Drama at his home congregation in Indianapolis.
In March of 1989, Kevin accepted the call to serve as Minister of Christian Education at Cumberland First Baptist Church. Over his 30 years of ministry within this congregation under various titles, Kevin put into practice most especially his passion for faith exploration and education with all ages. Kevin had a lifetime love of travel, baseball, cooking, and theater, all which he shared with his spouse and partner of many years, Dan Von Pein.
Kevin will be remembered for his principled faith, strong social conscience, artistry and creativity, attentiveness to detail, humanitarian spirit, surpassing skills as a listener, and teacher par excellence across the age span. His legacy lives on in the hearts and ethos of this faith community, well exemplified in the many images of The Journey Tree, about which a more detailed description follows.
